Frequently Asked
Are all animals given shots?
All dogs and cats are sent home that are current on age-appropriate vaccinations.
Will my animal be spayed or neutered?
All animals are spayed/neutered before they go to their home. This is one of the biggest priorities for MARC. Spaying and neutering helps keep pet population under control, which decreases needless euthanasia at our shelters. It can also help prevent cancer in male and female dogs and cats.
Do I get any supplies with my adoption?
All dogs and cats go home with a collar and ID tag with our contact information. Dogs go home with martingale/clasp collars, which is custom-made and has a feature that makes it difficult for them to pull out of it if properly fitted (very important for dogs who spook easily and those entering a new living situation). Dogs also have a leash that color-coordinates with their collars. Cats go home with a break-away collar.
Do they get a microchip?
All dogs and cats are microchipped prior to going to their new homes. We request that you keep MARC as a secondary contact. Having more people to contact is always a good idea if your pet goes missing.
What if I change my mind?
Sometimes you and the animal might not be a match. Please give the appropriate amount of time to allow the animals to get familiar with their new environment. It takes 3-days to calm down in their new home, and 3-weeks to feel that they are home and not going to be abandoned.

Adoption Fencing Requirements
Many of our dogs are in rescue for “running” behaviors and we require fences based on their needs, especially small ones. For homes without full fencing, consider a small, portable dog run. These enclosures provide your dog with a safe and secure space to eliminate waste and play while preventing them from escaping or encountering potential dangers like wildlife.
Dog runs offer a controlled environment for your dog to enjoy the outdoors while minimizing the risk of them wandering off. They are especially beneficial for small dogs or puppies who may be more prone to escape.
By creating a designated outdoor space, you can help ensure your dog’s safety and well-being. Both Amazon and Walmart provide these types of fencing for affordable prices. A recommended height of 36 inches is ideal for this type of fencing.

Adoption Fees
Before joining your family, each dog receives comprehensive care. This includes:
- Spay/Neuter: Ensuring responsible pet ownership and reducing pet overpopulation.
- Vaccinations: Protecting your new furry friend from preventable diseases.
- Medical Treatment: Addressing any identified health concerns, such as heartworm, Lyme disease, and parasites.
These essential services require significant time and financial resources. Your adoption fee helps cover these costs, ensuring that every dog receives the care they deserve.
By adopting from us, you’re not just bringing home a loving companion; you’re also supporting our mission to rescue and rehabilitate animals in need. Your contribution helps us provide vital care to all the dogs in our program, regardless of their age or health challenges.
Together, let’s create a brighter future for homeless animals.
