Odin’s journey didn’t start with the comfort he knows today. This handsome fellow was discovered on a quiet country road, rescued by a kind young woman who knew he couldn’t survive another day alone. When he first arrived, our hearts broke for him; he was suffering from a severe, ruptured eye infection and was clearly in a world of pain. We may never know the hardships he faced on those lonely roads, but we made him a promise right then: those days are gone forever.

From Fragile to Flourishing

Recovery didn’t happen overnight, but with expert veterinary care and an endless supply of love, the transformation began. It wasn’t just his body that healed, and his spirit did, too.

Luna’s Journey: From Rescue to Recovery

This is Luna on the day she first entered our care at MARC. It was clear she had been through a version of hell; she was covered from head to tail in thousands of fleas, her skin raw and scarred from the desperate, constant chewing.

Yet, as we served her what was likely her first real meal in years and began the long process of her first bath, Luna’s spirit remained unbroken. Between every bite and every scrub, she wagged her tail and licked our faces. Despite everything she had suffered, her only instinct was to give love.

That day, we made Luna a promise: she would never go hungry again, she would always have a warm, clean bed, and she would be cherished every single day.

We are so honored to have kept that promise. After months of healing and the tireless work of our devoted volunteers, Luna finally found her forever home. Her new family recently shared this beautiful message with us:

“ She really is our special baby I feel lucky every day she is ours.”

The moment Ellie bounded into the shelter, you could tell she was a dog with a story—and a boundless amount of life and energy. Found wandering as a stray, she had the tell-tale signs of a tough beginning, including the dreaded diagnosis: heartworm (HW) positive.

Heartworm treatment is a massive undertaking, and for a dog as vibrant as Ellie, it was critical to get her healthy fast so she could find her forever home. Saving Ellie wasn’t cheap; it required specialized medication, careful monitoring, and weeks of recovery. That’s where you came in. Every dollar donated to our medical fund went straight to work, covering the cost of the extensive treatment that slowly, surely, cleaned the parasites from Ellie’s heart and lungs. Even while undergoing treatment, Ellie’s true personality shone through. She was a powerhouse, an athlete with an impressive vertical jump—she could clear fences with ease! We knew that for this clever escape artist, leash walking was gonna be best. What she truly needed was an adventurous owner—someone to match her zest for life, take her hiking, and fill her days with new sights and interesting activities.

Anastasia’s Vigil: A Pledge for Safety

The scene was heartbreaking. On the winding roads of Murphy Hollow Spring, Georgia, two poodle sisters sat in the middle of the pavement, shadows against the asphalt. They had been abandoned, left to wait for a family who would never return. Their loyalty was absolute; they simply lay there, waiting, hoping, and utterly vulnerable.

A kind motorist spotted their vigil and immediately contacted Luck’s Rescue. Audray, the founder, rushed to the location. The two poodles were frightened and hesitant, refusing to be coaxed to safety. The team decided to return the next morning, hoping to gain their trust in the quiet light of dawn.

Tragedy struck overnight. When Audray and her partner returned, they made a devastating discovery: the black poodle had been fatally injured. What was even more heartbreaking was that her surviving sister refused to move. She stayed firmly beside her fallen companion, a final, loyal vigil in the middle of the road.

In that moment of profound loss, the surviving dog finally yielded to rescue. As if understanding that her sister’s watch was over, she allowed herself to be scooped up and carried to safety. She was immediately named Princess Anastasia.

Anastasia received a full check-up and, after getting a clean bill of health, was placed in a dedicated foster home. There, in the quiet comfort of a loving home, she was finally able to decompress from the unimaginable trauma she had endured. Her heart is healing from the loss of her sister, and she is now learning that safety and unconditional love are permanent fixtures in her new life.
